COASTAL COLLECTIONS Part Two: FEATHERS

My eye has been drawn to all things 'feather' of late, inspired by exotic street finds here in Australia; brightly coloured lorikeets are our favourites, whilst cockatoo crests are the most highly prized acquisitions. My 4 yr-old and I have been spotting them, with an unnecessarily dramatic intake of breath, and sticking them into a notebook since we arrived in January. Another reason our trip to Queensland was so rewarding, was (in the eyes of my youngest son) its abundance of shed feathers on beaches and cliff top walkways. Here are a few we stuffed in our pockets.

Warning: photos of a whole actual wing coming up.
